Requiem for Pluto

ORAL

Abstract

In August of 2006 the International Astronomical Union voted to re-classify Pluto as a dwarf planet. This short talk and humorous essay explores what the change means for science teachers and students, and suggests that teachers should use this opportunity to discuss how it is in the nature of science for our paradigms of the universe to constantly be re-evaluated, and that this pursuit of better understanding is a good thing.
