Quantum transport study of large-angle twisted MoTe2

Abstract

Recent studies of twisted molybdenum ditelluride (MoTe2) have opened new avenues for exploring correlated topological quantum states. Previous experimental works have mainly focused on the small twisted angle case, with twisted angle about 2 to 4 degree. In this talk, we will present the transport results of twisted MoTe2 with larger twisted angles, up to 5.5 degree. We have revealed the evolution of the van Hove singularities, the quantum anomalous Hall effect, orbital magnetism, as well as other topological and correlated quantum states, as the twist angle increases. We will also present transport results of high-quality monolayer MoTe2 device made by flux-grown single crystals, with the maximum Hall mobility of 16,000 cm²/V·s at low temperatures.
