Remote access, HPC integration and automated operation of superconducting QPUs in the German collaborative project QSolid

ORAL

Abstract

We detail the design and implementation of a distributed and heterogeneous software stack for a superconducting quantum computer consisting of modular units developed by many different partners – starting from the control firmware to the calibration stack, user management, job scheduling, compilation and ending with HPC integration. The stack, which has been developed by the German collaborative research project “QSolid”, aims to bring together expertise from several academic and commercial entities in the quantum computing value chain to build large scale QPUs, remotely accessible over the cloud by various end-users. We present challenges in integration and deployment in various environments as well as our learnings from the continued access and upkeep of QPUs over several months while operating in a multi-party environment.
