Advancement of Table Top Soft X-ray Spectroscopy for In-situ Measurements

POSTER

Abstract

We develop a table-top soft X-ray spectrometer capable of in-situ measurements using a custom-built gas cell. The technique is characterized by measuring metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for water and CO2 harvesting. In particular, MOF-303 (Al(OH)(PZDC)) and MOF-801 (Zr6O4(OH)4(fumarate)6) are measured to understand from an element-specific perspective how they can adsorb water even from low humidity environments.1,2 We investigate the in-situ changes at the O and N K-edge absorption spectra of MOF-303 and MOF-801 during water absorption from air. The results from this study contribute to the design principles for developing efficient water harvesting materials, but moreover, presents a blueprint for bench-top in-situ XAS measurements.
