Exploring the Effect of Dressed Dephasing on Cavity Lifetimes for Bosonic Qubits

POSTER

Abstract

Cavity-based bosonic qubits leverage the long lifetimes of high-Q superconducting cavities to realize quantum memories encoded in single-photon states. However, coupling the cavity with a low-Q transmon qubit for universal quantum control introduces additional decoherence channels, notably dressed dephasing arising from transmon frequency noise. This work investigates the often-overlooked impact of dressed dephasing on photon decay in the cavity mode. We present preliminary measurements of this process and outline future steps to fully characterize its impact on quantum memory coherence.
