Volumetric Characterization of an Ejecta Cloud using a Novel Plenoptic Imaging System
ORAL
Abstract
Volumetric characterization of an ejecta cloud in the optical regime requires the deployment of multiple imaging devices to provide the angular perspective views required for tomographic (3-dimensional) reconstruction. Such configurations can be constraining in experimental platforms where optical access is limited. In this contribution, we deploy a plenoptic imager which multiplexes several perspective views of a millimeter-sized region of interest onto a single camera sensor, bypassing the spatial constraint of a multicamera system. This diagnostic was fielded on a laser-driven platform that generated an ejecta cloud with a particle size of O(10μm).
