Hugoniots of Geological Materials and relationships to static properties

POSTER

Abstract

The Hugoniots for a suite of rocks have been found through investigations carried out using a plate impact facility. These Hugoniots form the database for a numerical model used in the mining industry. It is of use to have a means of linking the quasi-static to the dynamic rock strength. Therefore, a series of comparisons have been made between the Hugoniot data and a variety of static tests. A charaterisation method is suggested.
