University Leader Support for Sustained Reform in Science Teacher Education

Abstract

A successful science teacher preparation effort requires commitment and collaboration across the university. Over 125 universities in APLU, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities, have committed to the Science and Mathematics Teacher Imperative (SMTI) to significantly increase the number, quality and diversity of the teachers they produce. This national initiative is designed to galvanize university leadership to work with their faculties in addressing this critical national need.
