Progress in development of the silicon spin qubit based back-end for QuTech’s Quantum Inspire platform

Abstract

Over the last 4 years, Quantum Inspire (QI) has provided a quantum computing platform that enables users to access quantum technology for the aims of education and algorithm development (www.quantum-inspire.com). Using the platform can be done through either the web editor using QASM, or through any other editor using the Quantum Inspire SDK. Since its launch in 2018, Quantum Inspire has been expanding in scope through, for example, the implementation of additional quantum technologies (Starmon-5) and more powerful hardware for its simulator backend.



As the push to make larger and more powerful quantum computers in the community continues, Quantum Inspire also aspires to further scale up its platform with processors that boast larger amounts of qubits.



Quantum Inspire launched with a spin qubit backend with a two-spin qubit processor (Spin-2), which comprised two Loss-DiVincenzo qubits hosted in a SiGe/28Si/SiGe heterostructure and defined with a single layer of Al gates. Here we present the developments on next generation spin qubit devices for Quantum Inspire. We will also discuss the progress being made in the hardware and software implementations for the more accurate readout and control of the increased number of qubits.
