Evaluating quantum expectation values with the off-diagonal series expansion

Abstract

We introduce a stochastic technique for evaluating the expectation values of evolved (pure) quantum states under a given Hamiltonian, based on the off-diagonal series expansion. We test our method by calculating the expectation values of operators on a state evolving under the influence of a transverse-field Ising Hamiltonian.
