Dynamics of a tunable QED in quantum spin ice
ORAL
Abstract
Quantum spin ice is a spin liquid which realizes an emergent quantum electrodynamics with tunable values of couplings like the speed of light and fine-structure constant. Using large-scale quantum Monte Carlo simulations, we show that these tunable couplings have direct consequences in experimental observables such as the static and dynamic structure factors measured through neutron scattering. This leads to the possibility of extracting all the couplings of the emergent QED from experimental measurements in possible realizations, while also indicating quantum spin ice as an ideal platform for a quantum simulation of a tunable quantum electrodynamics.
