Growth and exploration of new p-block rich intermetallics

ORAL

Abstract

Growing and exploring new materials is crucial for the advancement of modern technology, and intermetallics are attractive due to their wide variety of properties, such as, e.g., superconductivity, topology, magnetism, thermoelectricity, etc. We focus on using p-block elements as a flux for growth of single crystals and have successfully synthesized materials such as SmMnBi2, Sm2Mn13Bi5, CoxMn1-xGa3, and Cu7Nb3Zn10. Here, we report on the synthesis, characterization, and exploration of properties of these new materials.
