Observation of a new reentrant integer quantum Hall state in the N=0 Landau level
ORAL
Abstract
We report the observation of a reentrant integer quantum Hall state in the N = 0 Landau level near the Landau level filling factor ν=2-1/5. Unlike similar reentrant states in high N ≥ 2 Landau levels, the reentrant state reported here is interpreted as a Wigner solid that is the particle-hole conjugate of the reentrant Wigner solid forming at 1/5 < ν < 2/9. Our results indicate that Wigner solids in the GaAs/AlGaAs system commonly straddle the partial filling factor 1/5 and paint a complex picture of the competition of the Wigner solid with fractional quantum Hall states.
