Alternative diffusion Monte Carlo methods for fermions

Abstract

Current continuum diffusion Monte Carlo methods for fermions are limited by the sign-problem, or, fixed-node approximation, computationally inefficient in cases that require far more than single determinant to reliably describe leading correlations. We devise and critically examine some alternative approaches that enable maintaining Fermi statistics within continuum DMC simulations.
