Twist-angle dependent optical properties of interlayer excitons in MoSe<sub>2</sub>/WSe<sub>2</sub> heterostructures

Abstract

We investigate the interlayer excitons in MoSe2/WSe2 heterostructures, mechanically stacked with an accurately controlled twist angle and capsulated by hexagonal boron nitride. Three R-stacking style samples with different twist angles are measured by polarization-resolved steady state and time-resolved photoluminescence at low-temperature. We observe multiple resonances of interlayer excitons which we attribute to quantized states in the moiré potential. The recombination dynamics of the interlayer excitons are found to change significantly with a small change in the twist angle.
