Gravity and Waves and Dimension Reduction

Abstract

Gravity can interact with a mechanical wave to convert a 3D object into a 1D string, thus reducing space-time dimensions from 4 to 2. The physics of this gravity-wave interaction could form the basis of a semi-classical approach to quantum gravity.
