Anyonic Excitations of Hardcore Anyons

Abstract

In this talk, we show that not only strongly interacting many-body systems consisting of fermions or bosons can host exotic quasi-particles with anyonic statistics with unusual properties, but also systems of anyons themselves can give rise to
anyonic quasi-particles. The charge and statistics of the emergent anyons can be different from those of the original anyons.
As a model system for the investigations, we consider states that are related to the family of Laughlin states on a lattice in
the plane. The Laughlin states are characterized by the Landau level filling factor 1/q. If q is non-integer, they describe
anyons.
Additionally, we show that anyonic quasi-particles can be added to the states with non-integer q. Finally, we also find the
states on the torus by utilizing that the Laughlin states on a lattice can be expressed as a conformal field theory correlator.
