Study of Langmuir and Langmuir-Blodgett Thin films

POSTER

Abstract

Arachidic Acid, Cholesterol, and Stearic Acid thin films were created and studied utilizing the Langmuir method in order to obtain a single molecule or monomolecular layer out of a desired substance at an air-water interface. The phase transitions are observed by measuring the surface pressure vs. area isotherms. Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films were created on a prepared substrate. The LB film structures were then studied using X-ray Diffraction, and Raman Spectroscopy.
