Velocity Map Imaging Spectroscopy of the Lanthanide Negative Ions

ORAL

Abstract

The technique of Velocity Map Imaging Spectroscopy (VMIS) is being adapted for the study of the heavy negative ions of the Lanthanide series. The VMIS technique will allow us to determine structural properties of these negative ions as well as yield angular distribution information for photon-negative ion interactions. An overview of the experimental apparatus as well as preliminary data on the cerium negative ion Ce$^-$ will be presented.
