A New STM for Spin-Resolved Atomic Scale Imaging

Abstract

We have designed and constructed a new scanning tunneling microscope system for magnetic and spectroscopic imaging in UHV. The system features a variable-temperature He flow cryostat with internal vibration damping, two-axis magnet, in situ evaporator, and in situ sample and tip transfer. Atomic-resolution test images have been achieved with the new system.
