Dynamics of Swarms

ORAL

Abstract

The collective behavior of animal groups (swarms, herds, flocks, etc.) provides a fascinating instance of a self-organizing system. In this poster we consider continuum model descriptions of animal groups with particular emphasis on dynamics and relaxation of the collective behavior of such groups. Topics considered will include equilibrium swarms, waves on swarms, relaxation to equilibrium, excitation of waves by obstacles and predators, and stability.
