Acoustic attenuation in atom traps

ORAL

Abstract

We study the damping rate of a BEC phonon excitation in a Bose-Fermi mixute gas. We show how the damping varies in the presence of the BCS superfluid phase in the Fermi gas. We, furthmore, point out some substantial differences with the condensed matter analogue in normal superconductors.
