Solving the riddle and mystery of the enigmatic neutrino
COFFEE_KLATCH · Invited
Abstract
Over the past generation, a series of intricate and challenging experiments have revealed that neutrinos have surprising, unexpected properties. These revolutionary discoveries unveiled shortcomings in the standard model of fundamental interactions and our understanding of the role neutrinos play in the universe. Many intriguing questions remain unanswered with profound implications. Might neutrinos offer an explanation of the matter-antimatter asymmetry? What are the masses of the neutrinos and the origin of these masses? Can the hints of sterile neutrinos be substantiated? This talk will review our current understanding of neutrinos, discuss the neutrino’s intertwined relationship with nuclear physics, astrophysics, and cosmology, and examine the prospects for further discoveries as today’s generation of precision measurements move forward.
