How to Support a Physics Graduate Student Association

ORAL

Abstract

This panel will discuss how a physics department can support its Physics Graduate Student Association (PGSA). We will start with each panelist describing the objectives of their institution’s PGSA and the extent of their involvement with it, and continue with a discussion on the benefits of having a PGSA, what a department can do to help ensure the success of its PGSA, and what graduate students can do to attract and maintain support for a PGSA within their department. Participants in this session will learn why a PGSA can be an important part of the graduate student experience, and will have the opportunity to share and discuss their experiences with their department’s PGSA.
