Preparing Students for Private Sector Employment

ORAL

Abstract

About half of all PhDs go directly into private-sector employment, and ultimately an even larger fraction will find jobs outside of academe. Yet much of our doctoral training is uninformed by the realities of how to succeed outside this arena. This panel will discuss concerns and strategies that address career preparation for our students.
