Development of a Mobile Application to Enhance Scientific Reasoning Abilities in a GE Course for Non-STEM Majors
ORAL
Abstract
We report on progress on the development of a new mobile application to perform data acquisition and analysis of sound in the context of physics of music. Our goal is to implement this new app in a general education course for non-STEM majors to enable hands-on learning experiences and increase scientific reasoning abilities and literacy. We have developed a set of tools for these purposes including a tone generator, waveform measurement, fast Fourier transform, noise reduction, and inverse Fourier transform.
