WVWC RockSat-X Sounding Rocket Payload

ORAL

Abstract

West Virginia Wesleyan College participated in the Space Flight Design Challenge last year. Our payload consisted of a thermocouple with the intent of determining power generation based on the temperature difference between different parts of the payload similar to NASA's Voyager probes that use radioisotope thermoelectric generators (RTGs). Although a single thermocouple produces too little amperage to be effective for energy generation, we did collect valuable temperature data throughout the rocket flight.
