New Measurements of Capture γ-rays from 55Mn(n,γ)

ORAL

Abstract

The accuracy of the data from the de-excitation of 56Mn after the neutron capture reaction 55Mn(n,γ)56Mn needs to be improved. In this talk, I will discuss the results of the measurements of γ-ray transition intensities from 56Mn, extracted from the thermal neutron capture reactions on a MnCl2 sample in recent experiments at the UMass Lowell Research Reactor. The measurements were performed with the four HPGe detectors. The analysis will involve simulation of 56Mn capture γ-ray cascades in GEANT4 to evaluate the performance of ENSDF data.
