Constraining jet energy-loss distributions and studying error correlation assumptions in centrailty dependent Pb+Pb collisions at 5.02 TeV.

Abstract




The study of jet quenching in heavy-ion collisions is a topic of active experimental and theoretical investigation. We apply Bayesian techniques in combination with the TRENTO model for initial state geometry to test simple parameterizations of jet energy loss in Pb+Pb collisions measured by ATLAS at the LHC. Jet RAA measuments for different centralities are used to constrain the mean and rms-width of the energy loss distributions. These parameterizations are also used to study the explore basic assumptions regarding correlated errors. Impacts for future theoretical models and presentation of experimental data are discussed.
