Principal component analysis of shell-model interactions

Abstract
We carry out principal-component analysis of nuclear shell model interactions in the p-, sd-, and pf-shells. We also analyze the most important linear combinations with respect to standard schematic forces such as pairing, quadrupole-quadrupole, etc.. Despite the very different mass regions we find similar behaviors, pointing towards underlying principles.
