Single Transverse Spin Asymmetries in Drell Yan Production at RHIC

ORAL

Abstract

We present the physics and experimental feasibility of single transverse spin asymmetry measurements in Drell Yan di-lepton production in polarized proton-proton collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The measurement will be sensitive to Sivers quark distributions and test recent fundamental theory predictions that the Sivers effect will be observed to be process dependent.
