Progress Towards an 88Sr+ Trapped Atomic Ion Distributed Computing Testbed

Abstract

We report progress on an 88Sr+ trapped atomic ion testbed exploring distributed quantum computing and networking applications using atomic emitters. We have demonstrated the ability to produce high-quality 408 nm photons by measuring our second-order correlation function for one to six emitter ions. By developing a laser control toolset for single- and two-ion gates, many-level coherent control, and high-fidelity spin-photon entanglement, we first aim to demonstrate heralded photonic graph states using a recently proposed method which is robust to inefficient photon collection. Second, we aim to demonstrate hybrid remote entanglement with the neutral divacancy in SiC, by using quantum frequency conversion to convert our 408 nm photons to match the SiC zero-phonon line at 1131 nm.
