Progress toward quantum networking and quantum simulation in the Quantum Matter Synthesizer

Abstract
The Quantum Matter Synthesizer is an atomic physics experiment designed for quantum simulation and quantum networking. We prepare and perform site-resolved imaging of individual cesium atoms in a triangular optical lattice and aim to rearrange atoms in the lattice using a digital micromirror device. We will present progress towards cooling of atoms using electromagnetically-induced transparency. We also propose entangling atoms in separate labs by generating spectrally narrow pairs of entangled photons via cavity-enhanced spontaneous parametric downconversion and interacting them with distant atoms. Single-atom rotation and imaging will be employed to measure the atomic state and verify entanglement. We detail progress towards a cavity-enhanced narrowband photon source and our scheme for atom entanglement.
