Simulations of Sub-Doppler Cooling in Ultracold Potassium
POSTER
Abstract
We simulated the Doppler and sub-Doppler cooling forces relevant to our 41K laser-cooling experiment using the python Laser Cooling Physics package (pyLCP). We explored the forces on potassium atoms including the full ground state and D2 hyperfine manifolds for various cooling and repump beam detunings. These force profiles are found to differ from previously published results.
