Progress on continuous-wave Lyman-α laser for cooling hydrogen

POSTER

Abstract

Precision spectroscopy of hydrogen allows probes into the proton size, fundamental constants, and matter-antimatter symmetry. Laser cooling of hydrogen beams will provide reductions in the most prominent systematic broadening and shifting mechanisms to these transitions. We report progress on a CW Lyman-α source projected to reach 1 μW of VUV and on simulations of laser cooling hydrogen based on this projected power.
