Examining Gauged Q-ball Stability

Abstract

Nontopological solitons known as Q-balls arise in complex scalar field theories and are of particular interest as dark matter candidates. Though the stability criteria for global Q-balls has been determined, the conditions required for gauged Q-ball stability are still unknown. We present our progress made thus far in determining the stability of these gauged Q-balls.
